If you’d like to transfer a domain name from one registrar to another, you’ll have to go through several security steps. One of them is getting a unique EPP code from the present domain name registrar – on the condition that you are the registrant, since the code is sent to the owner's email address and nobody else can see it. You’ll have to provide this code to the new registrar company, or else they won’t be able to initiate the domain transfer. The EPP codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as dots or commas, which can be easily miswritten, so make sure you copy and paste the correct code. As an additional safety measure, the transfer authorization code for a domain may be changed on a regular basis. Certain registrar companies refer to this code as an Auth key, a domain secret or a domain password as well.
