In other words, all .MOBI websites must be created to be viewed properly by mobile devices in accordance with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” established by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in partnership with the .MOBI Registry organization. These have to do with how a page is being navigated, the way it is being displayed (form and size), etc.

The restrictions have provoked some concerns since the generic top-level domain name extension is the only one that specifies what devices must be able to open a website and the way in which this has to happen, breaking the so-called principles of device independence, according to which a website should be built in such a way as to be accessed by the majority of web browsers and devices, be they mobile or stationary.
